The Sweetest Vegan ‘Superfood’ You Can Eat Without Breaking The Bank

Sometimes you just can’t justify eating a bar of delicious vegan chocolate for every snack.

Luckily, this superfood is here to satisfy your sugary cravings, and it won’t even break the bank.

What is a ‘superfood’?

Superfoods  are foods which are considered nutritionally superior to other food items because their nutrient density is greater than their caloric load (think spinach, blueberries, or even that nib of chocolate, and you’re getting the picture). Even small portions of a superfood can supply abundant nutrition in vitamins, minerals, and proteins.

Why you should be eating dry fruits!

Surprisingly (they aren’t a funny green color), dry fruits are the latest superfood that you should consider getting your hands on! That’s right — dried fruit.

Consumption of dry fruits (including nuts) has many benefits, including enhancement of energy and stamina. They are very high in antioxidants, and some are even believed to have unique properties which help to prevent aging and sharpen intellect.

Dry fruits are also impressively rich sources of calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, protein, riboflavin, vitamins A,C,E,K,B6 and Zinc. Plus, because they are fibre-rich, digestion is aided; nuts are also high in protein.

Packed full of these nutrients, with only a handful a day you can help healthy bones, muscles, nerves, teeth and skin!

Which is best?

Unsurprisingly, nuts are the best. Almonds have zero cholesterol and are rich in antioxidants and fibre; cashews are full of vitamins E and B6, and contain protein, potassium, mono-unsaturated fat and fibre; walnuts are packed with Omega-3 fatty acids, proteins, fibres, anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals.

Raisins and dates are also great, rich in vitamins, proteins, and helping to boost immunity and prevent lifestyle diseases such as cholesterol and diabetes.
