Violife Premieres New Vegan Feta Cheese

Self-proclaimed cheese addicts no longer need to rely on dairy products to satisfy their cravings. Vegan chefs and entrepreneurs have transformed the bland, rubbery imitation cheese of the past into luxurious, melty, creamy, and full-bodied plant-based delicacies. Violife is one of these plant-based cheese pioneers. The Greece-based, allergen-friendly company just announced an expansion to their gourmet cheese line at the Natural Products Expo West 2018 tradeshow. The latest? A crumbly, Greek-style vegan feta cheese, appropriately titled, Just Like Feta.

Despite the company headquarters in Greece, it took Violife years to perfect this classically Greek cheese variety. The company offered a Mediterranean-style block, but the distinctive taste and texture of dairy-based feta was more difficult to master. Finally, this crumbly, briny, plant-based feta is ready to launch to the demanding consumer market.

Violife has been making vegan-friendly dairy alternatives since the 90’s, but it attracted massive attention and praise in 2017. In November, the company won the coveted VegNews Veggie Awards Product of the Year, beating out established vegan businesses such as Daiya, Follow Your Heart, and Miyoko’s Kitchen. The company was recognized for both the depth of flavor and the terrific texture of all its cheese products. In the UK, Violife entered into a successful on-going partnership with Pizza Hut, which now uses the company’s shreds to offer vegan options at locations across the country.

Just Like Feta joins the line of other popular Violife flavors suited for just about any cheesy craving. There is the Mature Cheddar for grilled cheese sandwiches, Parmesan for topping pastas, Smoked Provolone for plant-based charcuterie platters, Mozzarella for pizzas, and Blue Cheese for those who in the mood for something funky. Many of these flavors come in blocks, slices, and wedges. The company also produces an extensive life of cream cheeses. To ensure everyone can enjoy these products, all Violife varieties are dairy, nut, soy, GMO, and gluten-free.

Violife can be found in natural grocers across the US. To see when the new feta flavor will arrive at a store near you, check the company’s store locator.
