Ben & Jerry’s is rapidly expanding its dairy-free offering. The latest addition? New vegan Tonight Dough ice cream.
The popular ice cream brand has teamed up with talk show host Jimmy Fallon to launch The Tonight Dough Non-Dairy (the dairy version originally launched in 2015).
Announcing the new flavor, which is certified vegan, on his show, Fallon said: “People come up to me you know, a lot of people, it happens to me all the time, and they go: ‘Jimmy, I love your ice cream but I can’t have dairy. I wish there was some way I could still enjoy Tonight Dough.’”
“The wait is over,” he continued, before revealing the new non-dairy tub. Like the OG, it’s made with both chocolate and peanut butter cookie dough, with chocolate cookie swirls and gobs of chocolate chip cookie dough. The only difference: the vegan flavor is made with almond milk.
He also announced the launch of new Tonight Dough Chunks. (They’re not vegan, but the brand does offer non-dairy versions of its Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Chunks.)
As with the original dairy Tonight Dough ice cream, the new products benefit the SeriousFun Children’s Network. One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the new vegan option will be donated to the organization, which provides camp experiences for children with serious illnesses.
Ben & Jerry’s Vegan Options
Tonight Dough Non-Dairy is the latest in a long line of vegan launches from Ben & Jerry’s. Most recently, it launched a vegan version of AmeriCone Dream, its ice cream with comedian and TV host Stephen Colbert.
AmeriCone Dream also features almond milk. And like the original, it has a vanilla base with fudge-covered waffle cones and a caramel swirl. It also benefits a good cause: The Stephen Colbert AmeriCone Dream Fund. The fund donates to a variety of organizations. These include environmental causes and programs that provide medical assistance and food to disadvantaged children.
This year the brand has also launched a dairy-free version of Karamel Sutra Core. It also released a vegan version of fan-favorite Phish Food. It now offers 19 vegan flavors in total.
In 2020, CEO Matthew McCarthy said in a statement: “Plant-based eating is one of the biggest trends in the world and ice cream lovers everywhere have shouted for non-dairy/vegan options that rise to the levels of Ben & Jerry’s euphoric awesomeness.”
Tonight Dough Non-Dairy has already started rolling out onto supermarket shelves, and is typically priced between $4.39 and $5.99.
