Vegan Menus Becoming the Norm at World’s Top Luxury Hotels

Think you have to sacrifice your preference for vegan food when dining at luxury hotels? Think again. Three top luxury hotels based in the destination cities London, New York, and Beverly Hills, are offering vegan menus — and these aren’t just your side salads and yam fries. These menus feature a various assortment of fresh, local produce and ingredients that shine in innovative dishes.

Shaun Rankin, a Michelin-star chef at London’s Flemings Mayfair Hotel has an affinity for how versatile vegetables are. Vegetables take center plate as Rankin highlights them in experimental dishes like Green Asparagus with Truffle, Wild Mushrooms, and Artichoke (£14); Beetroot Radish with Kalamata Sorbet and White Balsamic (£8); and Coconut Panna Cotta with Vanilla, Mango, and Mint (£9).

“When most people hear the word ‘Vegan’ they assume it limits to some degree their culinary options both in terms of variety and flavor,” Flemings Mayfair GM Henrik Muehle said in a statement. “That couldn’t be farther from the truth. At Ormer Mayfair, our amazing Chef Shaun Rankin revels in the opportunity to showcase his creativity and talent in utilizing natural, fresh ingredients straight from the Earth.”

He adds, “Chef Rankin has a long history of holding vegetables in highest of esteem. We are seeing a growing number of luxury travelers to whom the Vegan lifestyle is important and it brings me great joy to be able to not only offer them a Vegan-specific menu, but one that rivals any non-vegan menu and can be enjoyed by all guests regardless of their beliefs.”

While Los Angeles is indeed teeming with top vegan restaurants in every corner of the city, you won’t have to leave the world famous Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel to get delicious vegan eats. Dine poolside on meat-free dishes such as Roasted “Califlower” with Citrus, Curry Oil, Mixed Greens ($29) and Farro Puttanesca with Heirloom Tomato, Kale, Mixed Olives, Capers, Herb Oil ($42).

At New York’s Baccarat Hotel, high tea guests are treated to an exclusive vegan tea menu featuring savory treats such as Daikon Roll (Jicama, Grapefruit), Potato Crisp (Marigold, Micro Celery), Mushroom (Truffle, Baguette) and Cauliflower Walnut, Citrus Geleé.
