Queensland’s Gold Coast, aka one of Australia’s premier holiday destinations, is known for its beautiful sunshine, glittering beaches, and the abundance of fun activities it offers, from surfing and scuba diving to visiting theme parks. But all of that enjoyment can make a traveler hungry. Luckily, the Gold Coast is also home to plenty of awesome vegan-friendly spots where you can feast on delicious plant-based eats.

7 Vegan-Friendly Dining Spots Worth Traveling For in Australia’s Gold Coast

1. Doko Demo V

This vegetarian and vegan-friendly cafe in Miami is led by internationally known, classically trained chef Jared Peck. Doko Demo V is a Japanese-inspired restaurant, born from Peck’s interest in “East meets West fusion cuisine.”

Breakfast options include the pitaya bowl and waffles with raspberry compote; for lunch guests can enjoy dishes like “chicken” noodle soup” and Korean crispy “chicken” salads; dinner options include pasta and pizza dishes and 100 percent beef-free beef burgers.

2. Lovechild Market Place

The Lovechild Market Place is Australia’s first all-vegan mall. Located in Miami, the marketplace hosts only plant-based and cruelty-free businesses, from retailers to bars to restaurants.

The market features amazing eateries including Queensland’s first plant-based delicatessen, Flora by Greenhouse, which serves up vegan cheeses, meats, and sandwiches, and the Flour of Life Bakery – previously voted the Gold Coast’s best bakery. Donuts with vegan cream, peanut butter and jelly, melted chocolate, marshmallows, and fruit are available, as are rainbow cakes, cupcakes, raw snicker slices, croissants, sandwiches, and more mouth-watering treats.

3. Easy House

Easy House Asian vegetarian restaurant is a family-run eatery sure to make you feel at home with its range of Chinese dishes.

Visitors can enjoy the evening sunshine and warmth in the eatery’s outdoor seating area, feasting on vegan dishes such as stir-frys, curries, dumplings, sushi, all featuring a range of veggies and plant-based meats.

4. Fresh Organic

Fresh Organic is both a cafe and a health food store that believes “food is medicine.” Its cafe offers up freshly made toasties, salads, baked goods, vegan meats and cheeses, smoothies, and more.

In its retail capacity, it sells a variety of specialty items from Beyond Meat, Tofutti, Daiya, and Follow Your Heart amongst other major brands, allowing customers to fill their shopping basket with everything from kraut to whippy cream to cosmetic products (non-edible!).

5.Govindas

Govindas is one of the Gold Coast’s most popular healthy casual dining places to eat, offering visitors an affordable, nutritious experience. The not-for-profit eatery tries to use organic vegetables grown at the company farm in Murwillumbah, NSW, where possible.

Guests can build their own plate of delicious fresh food including pasta, pakora, kofta balls, and veggies.

6. Lord of the Fries

We’re pretty sure it’s a crime to visit Australia and not eat at Lord of the Fries, the nation’s deliciously dirty vegan fast-food chain.

At the chain’s Gold Coast Surfers Paradise location, customers can arrive early to enjoy egg and bacon breakfast muffins and chick’n waffles. Enjoy lunch in the sun with the outdoor seating area, or dine in late to end the day munching on all the veggie junk food from hot dogs, burgers, and loaded fries, to nuggets and phish.

7. Rawthentic Organic Unbakery & Farmacy

With a motto of “eat like you care,” Rawthentic offers plant-based wholefood dishes in a bid to “honour Mother Earth, promote healthy sustainable living, support healthy habits and wellness, and to offer a space of inspiration and community awareness.”

Its menu includes vegan cheese toasties, raw noodle salads, baked lasagne, raw pad thai, and a range of freshly made desserts including colorful raw cheesecakes.
