British clothing brand Notjust has released vegan David Attenborough-themed Christmas jumpers.
Notjust made headlines last year after it announced the launch of its Jeremy Corbyn-themed jumper, which according to the brand was “the most talked about Christmas jumper of 2017.” Even the MP himself was pictured with one.
This year – after raising £7,000 for charity in the 12 months after it was founded – Notjust’s Christmas jumpers are back. And this time, it’s environmentalist and national treasure David Attenborough who is the star.
Made in the UK by hand, the Attenborough jumper is made from 100 percent vegan-friendly materials. On the front, the slogan reads “Attenbrrrr!”, and on the back is a picture of Earth, with the caption “Stay Cool.”
“Let’s face it – after the summer’s heatwave, this winter is going to be a cold one,” Notjust notes on its website. “Climate change is a thing, and Sir David knows it. So listen to the nation’s grandfather: stay warm (and keep the planet cool while you’re at it).”
David Attenborough has made headlines frequently over the past few years for his work on BBC environmental and wildlife documentaries “Planet Earth II” and “Blue Planet II;” the influence of the latter was so powerful that its message about marine plastic pollution inspired a number of members of the public – as well as businesses and governments – to do more to curb single-use plastic use.
Attenborough is now back on UK screens with the documentary “Dynasties,” the popularity of which inspired Notjust to make the jumper.
As well as Attenborough’s design, Notjust is offering a Gareth Southgate-themed jumper, based on the waistcoat the England football team manager wore throughout this year’s World Cup, as well as the “Christmas Geez,” which features a picture of ultimate geezer and Eastenders star Danny Dyer. The original Jeremy Corbyn design is also back on sale, alongside another politician, Donald Trump, who is depicted as Dr. Seuss’s classic baddie, the Grinch.
Last year, 50 percent of profits from Notjust’s Christmas jumpers were donated to Save the Children and Mind, a UK mental health charity. However this year, the brand wants to help Britain’s homeless, pledging to donate one knit to a person suffering from homelessness for every jumper it sells.
