Vegan actor and activist Evanna Lynch, best known for her portrayal of Luna Lovegood in the “Harry Potter“ film series, is set to speak at the upcoming Reducetarian Summit being held in Los Angeles in September.
“We just confirmed Evanna Lynch @msevylynch (the actress who among other roles plays Luna Lovegood in the #HarryPotter Series) as a speaker at the Reducetarian Summit!” the organizers recently announced via Instagram.
“I’m absolutely thrilled that Evanna Lynch is participating in a keynote fireside chat at the Reducetarian Summit,” Brian Kateman, President of the Reducetarian Foundation told LIVEKINDLY via email. “Her commitment will help inspire a new era of advocates working to advance our shared mission for a compassionate, sustainable, and healthy world.”
The three-day summit encourages people to reduce meat consumption. “The goal of the Reducetarian Summit is to bring together people and perspectives from all corners of the world to explore strategies and tactics for reducing societal consumption of animal products and ending factory farming,” explains the brand’s website.
“The theme of this year’s conference is ‘action’: in addition to several moderated panels, lightning talks, and fireside chats, a greater emphasis will be placed on skills building workshops and curated networking opportunities. This year’s Reducetarian Summit will also feature a full expo showcasing delicious plant-based food,” it continues. Also, this year’s event will complement the launch of “The Reducetarian Cookbook.” The book promotes plant-based eating with more than 125 recipes and educates readers on how to swap out conventional ingredients for healthier vegan alternatives.
The summit will discuss topics such as factory farming’s egregious conditions, cultured or lab-grown animal products, how data influences research, and how to facilitate plant-based protein becoming mainstream.
The event will unite more than 500 participants from a range of backgrounds such as technology entrepreneurs, plant-based investors, philanthropists, journalists, environmentalists, CEOs, animal advocates, nutritionists, academics, students, and non-profit executives. At the conference, event-goers will be able to engage with roughly 100 speakers, panelists, and exhibitors.
Beyond Meat CEO, Ethan Brown will be in attendance as a speaker. Representatives from The Humane Society, Quorn, Perfect Day Foods, Veganuary, Greenpeace, Google, Dropbox, and biotech vegan gelatin company Geltor will also attend as speakers, as well as plant-based chef Matthew Kenney and Green Monday figurehead David Yeung.
The summit is to be held from September 28 to 30 at The Los Angeles Airport Marriott Hotel.
