Prince Harry is doing his best to follow a plastic-free, environmentally friendly lifestyle.
According to Insider, the Duke of Sussex frequently flies on commercial airlines solo (as opposed to flying a whole entourage via private jet) and asks the hotels he stays at to use less plastic.
Nacho Figueras — an Argentine polo player and friend of the prince — recently mentioned the royal in an interview with CBS This Morning.
The sportsman was reportedly defending Prince Harry, who received criticism for attending a charity polo match in Rome soon after the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle had given birth to their son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.
“How dare that guy, you know, tell a father who loves his child and is leaving his house for 24 hours and he’s going to raise money for thousands of vulnerable children in Africa,” he said.
He added that the royal couple is often scrutinized and “misinterpreted,” and that he wanted to set the record straight by saying that Prince Harry wants to make the world a better place.
“We were at the hotel where we spent the night before the game,” Figueras explained. “He talked to a person and said, ‘this morning I got my coffee and I saw that you have a plastic thing on the coffee. And then I also sent my shirt and I got my shirt in a big plastic bag. Can we please not use the plastic?”
Figueras added, “so that’s this guy, okay. I don’t like to talk about that at all, that’s who he is. That’s who they are. No plastic.”
Prince Harry and Markle aren’t the only royals who care about environmental issues. During President Trump’s recent state visit to the UK, Prince Charles tried to convince the head of state that climate change is real.
Trump has repeatedly denied and downplayed the importance of environmental issues such as climate change, claiming last year that global warming would not leave a lasting impact on the planet.
Trump told ITV’s “Good Morning Britain” that he “totally listened” to Prince Charles. “I tell you what moved me is his passion for future generations,” the President told host Piers Morgan. “This is real, he believes that, he wants to have a world that is good for future generations and I do, too.”
