Olympic silver medalist and plant-strong vegan Dotsie Bausch has just teamed up with animal advocacy organization, Compassion Over Killing (COK) to urge Papa John’s to offer dairy-free cheese on their pizza options.
Papa John’s are an international chain which claim “Better Ingredients. Better Pizza” – so, could Bausch’s letter see their pizzas become even better yet, with the addition of vegan cheese to their menu?
The seven-time USA Cycling National Champion and two-time Pan American Champion, Dotsie Bausch recently sent a letter to John Schnatter, the CEO of Papa John’s, which requests that the chain offer dairy-free cheese.
Hey, if Domino’s, Pizza Hut and Zizzi’s can do it and McDonald’s are veg-curious – anything is possible, right?
Her letter aptly states, “[e]veryone, hungry athletes included, craves a slice of cheesy, gooey pizza from time to time. But I — along with millions of other Americans — fuel my body with plant protein, and I hope you’ll consider adding vegan cheese to your menu so we can all enjoy Papa John’s pizza.”
Dotsie adds “I cycled my way to the Olympics with a whole-foods, plant-based diet, and at the age of 39.5, stood on top of the podium for the US.” As plant-based diets are renowned for increasing energy and whole-foods based vegan diets are recognized as being the optimal diet for human health – Bausch’s Olympic-winning secret could well be in her diet.
“When I [Dotsie Bausch] switched to a plant-based diet, my recovery from training sped up at such an alarming rate that I was recovering in half the time of my teammates, who were all 10 years my junior!”
Olympian or not – sometimes everyone craves a good post-workout pizza from time to time, so we fully support her mission!
If you feel the same way, head over and sign the petition.
