Cruelty-free and vegan makeup brand Milk Makeup has expanded its popular CBD-infused “Kush” collection to include brow gel. The new product is available in four shades, ranging from clear to dark.
Milk Makeup launched the product and encouraged customers to “do something dope for your brows.” Comprised of heart-shaped fibers that help thicken brows, the cruelty-free beauty brand’s latest item is made to give brows long-lasting fullness and definition in a transfer-proof, flake-free formula. Hemp-derived CBD-infused cannabis oil helps condition brows while a flexible gel mix helps keep them in place.
The launch follows not long after the debut of the vegan Kush High Volume Mascara, which was fittingly introduced on April 20, the widely recognized cannabis holiday.
According to the brand, Milk’s decision to use CBD-infused cannabis oil goes hand-in-hand with its recent announcement to make all of its products vegan in March. Milk co-founder Dianna Ruth said that while the brand has never tested on animals, transitioning to all vegan formulas was important because “using animal byproducts is an unnecessary practice.” Previously, some products featured beeswax as an ingredient.
“Because we are 100% vegan, we knew we couldn’t use beeswax, a common binding component in brow gel formulas,” said the company regarding its new brow gel.
While many consumers support a ban on cosmetic animal testing, cruelty-free cosmetics may still contain animal-derived products such as beeswax, carmine, and in some skin care products, honey. However, the demand for vegan cosmetics is expected to grow in the coming years. According to a recent report released by The NBD Group, sales of vegan cosmetics in the UK grew by 38 percent in one year. Further, data from Grand View Research shows that the global vegan cosmetics market is expected to reach $20.8 billion by 2025, driven by conscious consumers.
