Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, and Lana Del Rey have confirmed they’re collaborating on a song featured in the forthcoming “Charlie’s Angels” reboot based on the popular 1970s show starring Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, and Jaclyn Smith.
Rumors that the vegan singers were working together were confirmed by Cyrus today. “We are coming,” she wrote on Instagram.
The Elizabeth Banks-directed film, starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska, follows the 2000 and 2003 theatrical releases starring Lucy Liu, Drew Barrymore, and Cameron Diaz as the LA-based crime fighters. The new reworking is set for a November 15th release. The trailer, which appears to feature the pop stars’ collab, premieres tomorrow (June 27).
“For awhile the online whisperings and conspiracies of a potential project between the three pop queens had been just that — an internet rumor,” Paper reported. “Fueling the fire, Cyrus and Grande hinted to fans that the collaboration might be more than just talk, both liking Instagram posts about the upcoming project.”
Del Rey, Grande, and Cyrus don’t just share a love for pop music and female crime fighters – they’re all known for their love of animals as well as adhering to meat-free and vegan diets.
Cyrus and her husband actor Liam Hemsworth are both outspoken vegans using their social media platforms to promote the diet, products, and causes. Cyrus recently launched a collaboration with Marc Jacobs with profits going to support Planned Parenthood.
“Choosing to live as a sustainable vegan activist means wearing more vintage (less waste; loving pieces for longer), playing with the newest eco-materials and technology, and making custom vegan pieces with some of my favorite designers,” she told Vanity Fair earlier this year about her evolving fashion style.
Cyrus is currently performing at the UK’s Glastonbury Festival along with fellow vegan performers Billie Eilish and members of the Wu-Tang Clan.
Happy Cow reports that Del Rey hasn’t eaten meat in years; the star also attended a vegan Thanksgiving feast last year.
Long rumored to be a vegan herself, Grande was criticized earlier this year for being photographed with the Starbucks Cloud Macchiato. The drink is made with egg whites. Billboard named Grande its Woman of the Year in 2018.
“Ariana Grande is a star on her own terms, never bending to any particular musical trend or path in the industry,” said Ross Scarano, vice president of content for Billboard. “Certain in her convictions, she consistently stands up for herself and her decisions in a world that often isn’t hospitable to that sort of strength in young women. She’s got guts, she’s making some of the best music of her career, and she’s absolutely deserving of Woman of the Year.”
