Michelin-starred London restaurant Pied à Terre just launched a vegan delivery service.
Pied à Terre Vegan will now offer meals for delivery or collection every Saturday. The meals—which are designed to feed two—are based on Pied à Terre’s award-winning vegan menus.
The Pied à Terre Vegan Feast includes three starter dishes, a main course, and a dessert and goes for £50. The menu options—which can include a bean salad, mushroom spelt risotto, classic ratatouille, and truffle soup, just to name a few—rotate on a weekly basis.
Restaurateur David Moore, who owns the London hotspot, says he launched the vegan to-go service because patrons are unable to dine-in at his restaurant due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“It’s unclear how and when our industry will emerge from COVID-19, but one thing is for certain—we all need to adapt and be ready to reach our customers in different ways,” Moore told Big Hospitality.
He continued: “Pied à Terre Vegan is the perfect concept to enable us to do so. The traditional Pied à Terre offering is not right for delivery, but with the Vegan Feast, we can offer Londoners a sophisticated, refreshing alternative to dining out.”
Pied à Terre isn’t the only restaurant to shift its dining experience due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Restaurants and bars around the world have been temporarily forced to close their doors for dining in to help prevent the spread of the virus. But some vegan eateries have gotten creative and have been able to offer dine-in experiences—COVID-free.
Last month, a vegan restaurant in Amsterdam began to experiment with a greenhouse dine-in experience. Mediamatic ETEN, part of the Mediamatic arts center, erected small glass greenhouses—which seat two—along the waterside. The new concept—called Serres Sépparées—takes social distancing and private dining to the next level.
A single-seat restaurant called Bord för En—or Table for One—opened in the middle of a field in Värmland, Sweden. To ensure customers have a germ-free experience, the sit-down restaurant serves only one guest at a time. It features vegan food on the menu, which is delivered to the table via a rope operated basket.
