Oatly ice cream just landed at select Major League Baseball stadiums.

The Swedish oat drink company launched its vegan soft-serve in two MLB stadiums: Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, and Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois.

The vegan soft-serve will be available in two flavors—vanilla and chocolate—as well as a swirl.

“Oatly has partnered with a number of MLB teams and we were lucky enough to be one of them,” Casey Rapp, General Manager of Delaware North Sportservice at Globe Life Field, told CultureMap Dallas.

In a statement, Oatly’s North American President, Mike Messersmith, said the increase in demand for plant-based products spurred the new partnerships. “More and more, people are choosing to eat more plant-based, even at the ballpark,” he said.

In addition to its oat milk and dairy-free yogurts, Oatly carries a number of non-dairy frozen desserts. The oat milk-based ice creams come in flavors like mint chip, strawberry, and salted caramel.

The company’s vegan soft-serve is relatively new. The non-dairy treat debuted in September 2020 at Dirt Candy—a plant-based restaurant in New York City.

“It’s the first and only Oatly soft serve machine to exist in NYC! You love their milk! You love their ice cream! And now you are going to love their soft serve,” Dirty Candy captioned in an Instagram post.

It should come as no surprise that Oatly launched its new vegan dessert at the Texas Rangers’ stadium. In 2017 and 2019, the ballpark earned PETA’s award for the most vegan-friendly stadium.

“PETA is delivering top honors to the Texas Rangers’ home field for knocking it out of the park with creative animal-friendly twists on classic stadium food,” the animal rights group’s executive vice president, Tracy Reiman, said in a statement.

Oatly’s partnership with the Texas Rangers doesn’t end with vegan soft-serve. The oat milk company plans to take on the role of Official Sustainability Partner of the MLB team.

“From bringing in the new Oatly Soft Serve for fans to enjoy on game day to collaborating with us on their sustainability initiatives at Globe Life Field to putting up a massive oat milk carton in the outfield skyline, the Rangers are leading the sustainability movement within the gameday experience,” Messersmith added.
