The “world’s first” fast-food burger joint dedicated to serving only the “bleeding” vegan Beyond Burger is set to open in London. The new restaurant, called Halo Burger, aims to serve “quality food for thought.”
Eater London reports that Halo Burger will serve just the Beyond Burger, the plant-based patty developed by California-based vegan protein company Beyond Meat, in a variety of ways. The restaurant’s signature “Halo Burger” will feature two 1/8-pound hand-formed patties served with classic fixings like onion, a slice of tomato, lettuce, housemade sauce, and vegan American-style cheese. Other options on the menu include fast-food favourites like a quarter pounder with cheese, a cheeseburger, and of course, fries.
“Everything at Halo Burger is created to do better, be better and taste better,” says the restaurant. Its menu takes full advantage of how Beyond Burger meat – which is said to look, cook, and taste like a classic beef burger – can be customised with herbs and spices if one chooses to do so.
According to Halo Burger, its culinary team spent more than 18 months creating “a secret seasoning” made to complement the burger’s meaty flavour, which was taste-tested in California and London. “This unique seasoning is then blended through every Halo Burger, elevating its taste and ensuring you have that Halo Moment from your very first bite,” the restaurant says.
While the plant-based Beyond Burger is a healthier alternative to a traditional burger, the upcoming London restaurant isn’t shy about the fact that it aims to offer a nostalgiac fast-food experience, made vegan. Halo Burger says it is not “here to be the next health fad, it’s here to give you what you crave, help you reduce your impact on the planet all while still fuelling your passion for great tasting food all at an affordable price.”
Halo Burger is set to open this December in Pop Brixton, a South London-based community initiative that provides space to local businesses, events, and workshops. For updates, follow Halo Burger on social media.
