UK’s First-Ever Vegan Room Service Launches in London Hotel

London tourists now have a new option when it comes to hotel room service. Specifically, those who stay at the St. Giles Hotel can order plant-based dishes from a food company called BOL Foods.

Effective immediately, guests at the hotel can now order a variety of vegan dishes from BOL’s lineup, including Thai Coconut Curry, Sri Lankan Sambar & Smokey Tomato, and Lentil Super Soup.

St. Giles Hotels CEO Abigail Tan-Giroud spoke enthusiastically about the new room service offerings.

The partnership with BOL is a result of a growing trend in hotel guests looking to keep up their healthy habits when traveling abroad, especially on business.” She continued, “We have seen a dramatic increase in visitors requesting gym passes, vegan and vegetarian restaurant recommendations, and guides for running and cycling in the city. Our partnership is an exciting step towards the future of room service and a reflection of London as the conscious cosmopolitan capital.”

BOL Foods, which was founded by Paul Brown, is not only aiming its products at vegans.

So, at BOL, we’re on a mission to make it easy for you busy folk to eat more plants, especially when you don’t have the time to cook from scratch,” Brown writes on the website. “The vegan & vegetarian meals we’ve created are both delicious and nutritious, completely natural and always tasty. Whether you’re a meat eater or a vegan, we hope you like what we’ve created for you.”

He adds, “I can’t promise BOL will make you jump higher or win any medals, but I can promise it will always be interesting, healthy and delicious.”

BOL products include veg pots, salad jars, and super soups. This change may soon inspire other hotels to adopt similar programs, making room service less of an exclusive offering and more accessible to the masses.

Already, numerous hotels and resorts are moving toward increasing plant-based menu options. And Lonely Planet, the premier travel guide, named some of the world’s top vegan travel destinations, citing vegan food as one of the top travel trends for 2018.
