Lewis Hamilton Takes a Public Stand Against Animal Agriculture and Tells 9 Million Fans to Go Vegan

Vegan Formula One Champion Lewis Hamilton Becomes Animal Rights Activist

Last September, British racing car driver Lewis Hamilton went vegan after watching the 2017 documentary “What the Health.” Since then, the Formula One champion has become an advocate for animal rights.

The athlete often encourages his social media followers to adopt a plant-based diet, recently he took to Instagram to show his nine million fans the truth about the animal agriculture industry.

In one hard-hitting post, he shared a picture of a mother sow and her piglets in a trash can. He wrote, “We all have a voice, I have this platform and so to not use it correctly would be wrong [of] me. Nobody is perfect, I certainly am not but this is actually happening every day to so many animals worldwide.”

He continued, “This is why I have decided to go to a vegan plant-based diet, been over a year now. Yes, it’s hard, [nothing is] ever easy but I’ve felt the best I’ve ever felt for the past year.”

In the past year, the athlete has excelled in his career, winning the German, Italian, Singaporean, and the Japanese Grand Prix, proving that a plant-based diet isn’t an obstacle to sporting success.

The benefits of ditching meat and dairy were immediately obvious to Hamilton, who raved to CNN two months after going vegan, “I do feel the best I’ve ever felt in my life, in my 32 years, physically. I feel incredibly clean and healthy.”

But it’s not all about health for the athlete. Back in June he even changed his Instagram bio to reflect his newfound passion for animal rights, stating “Plant-Based Diet. Love Animals.”

Hamilton also recently shared a photo of himself and his dog with fans. He, again, took the opportunity to educate his followers on the atrocities of the animal agriculture industry.

“Animals possess values of which very few humans do. We turn a blind eye to the pain and torture we put animals through,” he wrote. “Every piece of meat, chicken or fish you eat, every bit of leather or fur you wear, has come from an animal that has been tortured, pulled away from their families and brutally killed.”

He concluded, “We all have choices to make and if you are ok with it then that’s you but I choose to love, to be conscious of what I’m supporting and I refuse to support the companies that from those companies killing and torturing animals.”
