Leonardo DiCaprio and Jane Goodall Launch Vegan Clothing Line ‘Don’t Let Them Disappear’ for Ape Conservation

There is little more inspiring than when two legends unite for a worthwhile cause, and actor and ethical investor Leonardo DiCaprio and vegan primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall have done exactly that. The two passionate environmentalists have joined forces to launch a vegan clothing line to support ape conservation.

The clothing line, named “Don’t Let Them Disappear,” is a collaboration between DiCaprio’s eco-forward nonprofit, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, and the Jane Goodall Institute, which works to protect chimpanzees and other primates among other efforts.

Announcing the news on Instagram, DiCaprio explained that the two “teamed up to develop a line of apparel to raise awareness for ape conservation and support teams on the ground working to save this incredible species.”

The line offers organic t-shirts, an organic recycled hoodie, and an eco-fleece crewneck sweatshirt, all featuring a unique design and the words “Don’t Let Them Disappear.” They are intended to honor the five most iconic species of apes: gibbons, chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas, and orangutans. The exclusive designs will be available only for a two-week flash sale.

Explaining the need for the project, Academy Award-winning actor Dicaprio said, “It is estimated that orangutans have lost over 80% of their habitat in the last 20 years, largely due to fragmentation from the palm oil and wood pulp industries.”

On Represent’s website, where the clothing line is available for purchase, it is stressed that “If we do not take serious action now, many apes will face extinction in as little as 20 years.” In a bid to address this, the proceeds from the clothing line will benefit ape conservation work.

This is not the first time DiCaprio and Goodall have joined forces. When DiCaprio celebrated the 20th anniversary of his foundation earlier this year, he was joined by Goodall and animal welfare advocate and actor Mark Ruffalo. At the celebratory auction and gala, the eco-conscious team raised more than $7 million for climate change and biodiversity protection projects.

DiCaprio, Goodall, and vegan musician Moby have also been spotted lunching together in LA, where they are speculated to have been formulating plans to save the planet once and for all.
