Kylie Jenner Just Launched a Vegan Skincare Line

Updated June 8, 2019. Makeup mogul Kylie Jenner just launched a vegan-friendly, cruelty-free skincare brand, called Kylie Skin.

Following the success of Kylie Cosmetics — which saw the 21-year-old controversially named the “youngest self-made billionaire” by Forbes — the youngest Kardashian-Jenner sister is turning her hand to a whole new brand.

Jenner assured in an Instagram post earlier this month that everything would be gluten-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, and suitable for all skin types. Some sources reported in early June that the Vanilla Milk Toner may not be vegan due to the inclusion of the ingredient squalane. Traditional squalane is derived from shark liver, but rice, sugar, and olives can be used as a plant-based alternative. A Kylie Skin representative confirmed with LIVEKINDLY that the brand uses squalane sourced from olives.

“Skincare and makeup go hand in hand and Kylie Skin was something I dreamt up soon after Kylie Cosmetics,” Jenner wrote. “I’ve been working on this for what feels like a lifetime so I can’t believe I’m finally announcing!”

She continued, “building my makeup line from the ground up has taught me a lot and I’m so blessed with that knowledge to apply to my brand new company! Birthing a whole new team, manufacturing, fulfillment etc separate from my cosmetics line was challenging but here we are!”

Are the Kardashian-Jenner Sisters Going Vegan?

None of the Kardashian or Jenner sisters have claimed to be adopting a vegan lifestyle, but some of their recent business, food, and fashion choices have been more cruelty-free than ever.

Jenner’s new vegan brand reveal follows on from sister Kendall’s launch of a new tooth-whitening pen with vegan oral care brand Moon. And, at the end of 2018, the two youngest Kardashian-Jenner sisters launched a vegan-friendly, faux fur jacket range with Macy’s. One of the jacket’s descriptions noted, “[it’s] proof that adding a little faux fur never hurts.”

It’s not just the younger sisters who seem to be living a more conscious lifestyle. In April, Kim Kardashian revealed she was solely eating plant-based foods at home. Before this, in May 2018, the owner of KKW Beauty announced that she leaving her fur-wearing days behind her. In a Snapchat post, she said, “faux is my new thing.”

Kourtney Kardashian also wants to make beauty more ethical. Last year, she lobbied to get toxic ingredients out of personal care products and cosmetics.

Kylie Skin is now available online.
