Supermodel and entrepreneur Karlie Kloss has used her platform to inspire positive change in the world’s second-most polluting industry, fashion, by modeling vegan designer Stella McCartney’s most environmentally-friendly collection to date.
According to Net-A-Porter, the collection that is part of ADIDAS BY STELLA MCCARTNEY features fabrics including recycled polyester, recycled Parley Ocean Plastic™ and organic cotton; marrying environmental innovation with specially engineered designs to complement stylish female athleticism. The design also nods to modern flair, it is said to embody the strength, femininity, and power embraced by women today – as Kloss aptly portrays.
The collection is facilitated by a collaboration between Adidas and internationally-renowned designer, Stella McCartney. The former is pioneering women’s performance wear by implementing cutting-edge technology and attractive designs to its garments. The collection features stretch sports bras, stretch leggings, footwear, stretch top, caps and stretch shorts to name a few.
“At the heart of the collaboration is an ambition to make a difference in a meaningful way,” said McCartney of the collection. “As a global brand, we have a responsibility to reduce our impact on the planet. That’s why I see every collection as an opportunity to make progress – always questioning how to design more sustainably, while offering women ever-evolving technology and style.”
“We all know we still have a way to go, but that’s why we are inviting women everywhere to join us on this journey and be the difference they want to see in the world,” added the designer.
McCartney is reputable for her commitment to sustainable and conscious fashion. Popular with some of the most high-profile celebrities, she recently designed a dress for Meghan Markle’s royal wedding reception following her nuptials to Prince Harry. And, vegan musician Miley Cyrus donned a Stella McCartney dress at the Met Gala this year.
Kloss’ eco-conscious modelling follows shortly after she traveled to Beyond Meat’s engineering facility to chat with a female chemical engineer working in the processing department at the vegan meat company, Beyond Meat. In addition to Kloss talking about the future of meat being vegan, she addressed females in the technology field, similar to the mission of the non-profit organization she founded, Kode With Klossy.
