Vegan actor Jessica Chastain recently shared an Instagram post with her 1.7 million followers, offering a recipe for vegan pancakes within the caption.
“Sundays are for vegan banana pancakes ??☕,” teased the “Interstellar” star.
Chastain’s glamorous post was commented on by fellow actor, Jennifer Garner, whose family-oriented recipes have gained a whirlwind of attention from parents and the media. Garner said to Chastain: “Beautiful—we will try these! X.” Chastain replied with “Yes! I love your cooking videos.”
Chastain adopted a vegan diet in 2005 after finding that pescetarianism didn’t give her the energy she desired. In an interview with W magazine last year, Chastain explained her decision: “It was because I was really low on energy….my cholesterol was very high and the doctor wanted to put me on medicine. I said that seems crazy!… so yeah, I was in my 20s, and I thought I don’t want to start taking cholesterol pills.”
“I realized the shellfish I was eating was high in cholesterol, and my diet was not helping me out, so I changed that thing, and then I found myself going to veganism because a friend of mine had a two week vegan food delivery program she wasn’t going to use so I used it, and immediately I just had more energy than I’ve ever had in my life, “ she added.
Many celebrities have also been giving the vegan diet a go. Beyoncé has convinced countless followers to join her in her trials with a vegan diet, and she recently sent the Internet into a frenzy after her highly-anticipated Coachella 2018 performance. Further, just last month, Zac Efron revealed he is eating a “purely vegan” diet and thinks it’s “brilliant.” Musician will.i.am has also been speaking out about the health benefits of a vegan diet since he began eating plant-based last year.
