Cruelty-free and vegan-friendly makeup brand Jeffree Star Cosmetics has launched a selection of four new festive lip scrubs.
Adding to the brand’s existing range of Velour Lip Scrubs, the new products feature coarse sugar combined with moisturizing jojoba seed oil and seasonal flavors. The scrub is intended to combat the dry winter weather, a recipe for chapped lips, helping to make them smooth before applying lipstick. Along with the new flavors, Jeffree Star Cosmetics offers 25 flavors.
The new options, which are part of the brand’s “Alien” holiday release, include sweet, indulgent Christmas flavors like Eggnog, Salted Caramel, French Toast, and Pumpkin Pie. But if you’re not in the mood for wintry flavors, Jeffree Star Cosmetics website lists a myriad of options from its summer collection, like Pink Lemonade and Rainbow Sherbet.
Other vegan makeup options from Jeffree Star Cosmetics include a (currently sold-out) heart-shaped eyeshadow palette, which is so popular, the limit is two per customer. The brand is also offering a variety of limited-edition liquid lipsticks, such as the colorful Velour Liquid Lipstick Bundle, especially for the holiday season.
The brand’s lip scrubs are especially popular due to their similarities with Lip Smackers, a childhood favorite for many. In July 2017, Teen Vogue reported that some fans on Twitter were buying it just for the taste.
While the company may not intend for customers to eat its lip scrubs right out of the jar, it notes that it is safe for consumption. “Take a scoop out and rub your mouth in circular motions. Lick away excess (yes, it’s edible!) or wipe off with a tissue,” says the official website.
Jeffree Star Cosmetics is not the only cruelty-free brand to offer festive vegan lip scrubs. Lush Cosmetics’ holiday lip scrub release includes the cocktail-inspired Sugar Plum Fairy and Cranberry Fizz.
