Popular pizza chain, Domino’s Australia, recently asked customers if a vegan cheesy garlic bread option should be added to its menu.
Domino’s Australia posted a picture of the potential new addition on its Instagram account to 1 million followers. “We know that Garlic Bread has been a staple for our Vegan customers for a while now,” the chain captioned the post. “Should a Vegan Cheesy Garlic Bread make it to our menu…? ?.”
The pizza chain “down under” caused a flurry of excitement in January this year, after it added three new cheesy vegan pizzas, the Vegan Avocado Veg, the Vegan Margherita, and the Vegan Spicy Trio, as well as cheese-free garlic bread to its permanent menu. “[W]e have been overwhelmed by the popularity of our Vegan Cheese…We’ve received great feedback about having vegan cheese and it will stay on the menu,” the chain told LIVEKINDLY.
Around the globe, the international pizza franchise is increasing its vegan options. Just days ago, the Netherlands and Belgium branch of the company added three new vegan pizzas, complete with vegan mozzarella cheese. Further, Domino’s Israel has offered a vegan pizza option for the past six years, but dairy-free cheese was added to the menu last year.
The pizza chain in Australia is tapping into a growing plant-based market – many citizens are embracing veganism and vegetarianism, or actively reducing their animal product consumption. For many, this is for health reasons, or for the environment, but for others, it is for animal welfare.
Australian cricketer Adam Zampa is set to star in a new bus advertisement in Adelaide asking people to stop eating animals. And, fellow Australian, philanthropist, and animal rights activist, Philip Wollen, recently appeared in a video wherein he says “animal rights now is the greatest social justice issue.”
A nationwide initiative dubbed “No Meat May” has seen a record number of participants pledge to go vegetarian next month, and restaurants in the city of Perth say more customers are enticed when vegan options are offered. Additionally, data released earlier this year found that the nation even has the third-fastest growing vegan market in the world.
