Vegan designer, Stella McCartney, has launched a new clothing range for kids, inspired by nature.
Suitable for newborns through to age 14+, the new collection offers a variety of garments for kids adorned with insects such as bees and ladybirds, as well as snails.
“This season we’ve looked to one of our favourite source of inspiration in designing our kids collection: nature!” States the Stella McCartney website. “As the conservation of insects far and wide is becoming more important for making our planet healthy and biodiverse, we are encouraging lots of support for our little friends.”
The advertising campaign will continue with the animal theme, featuring cats and kittens on set. “Look out for the cutest kittens and beautiful tabby cats who bring some animal magic to our latest kids’ pieces,” the website adds.
Famous for her sustainable and cruelty-free designs, Stella McCartney is a pioneer of modern fashion – an industry that is changing and adapting to become more animal and environment-friendly. The designer has a whole host of celebrity fans, including supermodel and entrepreneur, Karlie Kloss, singer Ellie Goulding, actor Emma Watson, and the new Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.
In March, McCartney launched a competition for students, setting them the challenge of creating a new vegan wool. “It has to be sourceable, it has to work as a material, it has to have movement, breathability,” the designer said. “We want to use this fabric, we want to use these designs and we want to be able to push fashion forward.”
“People are demanding textiles that are environmentally sustainable and can be recycled or biodegraded,” added animal rights organization, PETA.
Recently, the fashion industry has seen the launch of new sustainable and cruelty-free, vegan brands, such as Hiraeth – a new line launched by actor, and Dominion narrator, Rooney Mara, and Livin’ the MAD Life, a mother-daughter led handbag brand.
