(Updated March 2, 2021) | Frozen yogurt is experiencing something of a renaissance. Pioneered by the chain TCBY in the midst of the low-fat trend the 1980s, the fro-yo space is now populated by chains like Pink Berry, Red Mango, 16 Handles, and Yogurtland. While shops were a dairy-dominated space at first, vegan options have become more of a regular sight—a true blessing for anyone craving soft-serve made without milk. And with over 300 locations across the U.S., Yogurtland is a great stop for anyone to get their vegan fro-yo fix.
Yogurtland has two types of vegan options: plant-based soft serve and sorbet. The first is closest to what you would expect from dairy-free frozen yogurt; the base has a creamy texture because it’s made from coconut oil and coconut milk. And like traditional yogurt, it’s made with active cultures that give it a tart taste. Yogurtland currently has two vegan plant-based fro-yos (and one made with honey), but the chain is always adding new and seasonal options to the menu, so keep an eye out for dairy-free fall flavors. Yogurtland’s sorbet, meanwhile, is made from real fruit for a sweet and refreshing treat.
Here are the vegan and dairy-free options you can order at Yogurtland. Remember to take advantage of the toppings bar—one of the best parts is choosing the perfect topping to complement your flavor.

The Plant-based Salted Chocolate Soufflé has the honor of being Yogurtland’s first official plant-based flavor. After selling out of the flavor in less than two weeks, Yogurtland briefly relaunched the decadent dessert later that year.
Inspired by the classic summer dessert, Dairy-Free Key Lime Pie is one of the newest addition to Yogurtland’s flavor offerings. This flavor features real Key limes swirled with graham crackers in coconut milk for a tangy, creamy flavor. However, the graham crackers contain honey, so while it is dairy-free, this flavor isn’t vegan.

What’s a frozen yogurt shop without its toppings bar? Yogurtland has plenty of plant-based toppings for customizing your mountain of dairy-free soft-serve from fresh fruit to coconut and boba filled with fruit juice. There are also crushed nuts, chewy mochi pieces, carob chips, and vegan cookies and candy. While there’s no official list of toppings that are always available, most toppings bars should have a list of allergens available.
