Summer is here and the stars are out! After a slow several months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, celebrities are coming out with new projects—such as movies, cookbooks, television shows—this season.
Take Alicia Silverstone, for example. The vegan Clueless actress stars in Masters of the Universe: Revelation, a new animated Netflix series from executive producer Kevin Smith that depicts what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor. Harley Quinn Smith, Kevin’s daughter (and a vegan like Silverstone) also has a role on the show.
Other stars, such as vegans Madelaine Petsch and Moby, are using their platforms and careers to encourage others to embrace a flexitarian or plant-based lifestyle. For her part, Petsch is a co-producer of a documentary called Meat Me Halfway, which premieres in July. The film, which features interviews with representatives from Beyond Meat, Eat Just, Miyoko’s Creamery, and other plant-based brands, was created to explore an approachable path to reducing meat consumption.
In a similar vein, vegan musician Moby is slated to release his cookbook, The Little Pine Cookbook: Modern Plant-Based Comfort, in September. The work includes recipes from Little Pine restaurant in Los Angeles (which Moby is an original owner of) as well as some of the singer’s favorite Little Pine-inspired vegan dishes.
