New Artisan Vegan Cheese Launches at Select Whole Foods

Cheese lovers, rejoice!

A new vegan cheese is now available at select Whole Foods stores, and it’s safe to say this brand is truly upping the game in plant-based alternatives. Vegan company Nuts for Cheese announced their Whole Foods debut on social media, exclaiming that they are “so jazzed” that their products are now available at Ontario Whole Foods stores.

Fans of the business were quick to celebrate, with many asking where the product might be expanding to next.

The handcrafted cheeses are made from cultured, organic cashews. The result is a “plant-based, cruelty-free, and health-conscious alternative” which according to the company, taste as delicious as they look.

The range of products includes Chipotle ‘Cheddar’, Super ‘Blue’, Smoky Artichoke and Herb, and a creamy ‘Un-Brie-Lievable’ wedge, made from a coconut cashew blend, among others.

It seems there is little slowing down the vegan cheese market, which is set to reach a value of $4 billion in coming years, a figure that may increase further as nearly a third of Britain reveal they want to give up cheese and dairy in 2018. The product has continued to grow in popularity, as consumers search for more ethical, sustainable and healthier alternatives to foods they love, without compromising on taste.

Some shoppers find this happy balance in vegan products, many of which replicate ‘conventional’ flavours and eating experiences, but without the side effects found in meat, dairy and eggs (for instance cholesterol, which is only found in animal products). In fact, veganism was even named a “major restraint” for dairy cheese sales.

With high demand inspiring businesses to stock up on vegan products, who’s to say where the next cruelty-free launch will be?
