Cruelty-free and vegan beauty brand Spectrum Collections just launched the product you didn’t even know you needed: Mickey Mouse makeup brushes.
The brushes, which come in a 10-piece set, are beige and black and sport the familiar three-circle Mickey head printed in gold. With animal-free black bristles, the set includes a tapered powder brush, tapered finishing brush, buffing foundation brush, precision blush brush, tapered blender brush, color applicator, fluffy pencil brush, precision crease brush, brow styler, and a “Magic Wand” brush, ideal for highlighting.
Disney fans can purchase the brushes on their own or with a matching pouch. The makeup bag features black vegan leather, gold detailing, a Mickey-head ring handle, and a front strap of Mickey’s hands making a love heart shape (cue the awws).
Also included in the collection is the Mickey Belt Bag, complete with a detachable Mickey tassle charm. It comes with its own vegan tapered powder brush for when you’re out and about and need a touchup.
Are Makeup Brushes Vegan?
Not all makeup brushes are vegan; some companies use animal fur from squirrels, minks, goats, or horses to make the bristles. However, growing demand for cruelty-free cosmetics is inspiring companies to adapt. In February 2018, cosmetics giant MAC stopped making its brushes with animal hair, instead opting for vegan fibers. MAC’s Global Senior Artist Dominic Skinner noted that the new brushes are “just as soft and in many cases, softer.” He added that the vegan makeup brushes also keep their shape better.
Spectrum x Disney
This isn’t the first time Spectrum has collaborated with Disney. Late last year, the beauty brand released vegan Snow White-themed makeup brushes and bags. The range includes a Bad Apple brush set, allowing “makeup artists to channel their inner Evil Queen,” and naturally, a Hand Held Mirror Mirror, lined with silver vegan leather and embellished with the words: “FAIREST OF THEM ALL.”
Spectrum also launched a vegan Little Mermaid-inspired collection which features Disney characters Ariel and Ursula. The range includes animal-free brushes, accessories, and cases with nods to the animated film; Spectrum described the Dinglehopper Set as “the most mermazing place to store all your whozits, whatzits and thingamabobs.”
