Boots has upped its vegan food options. The leading health and beauty retailer is now home to vegan nut butter cups.
The treats, made by organic snack brand LoveRaw, are available in salted caramel and hazelnut flavours. The salted caramel cups are made with almonds, coconuts, and sea salt, whilst the hazelnut cups contain creamy hazelnut butter and dairy-free chocolate. LoveRaw also makes peanut butter chocolate cups similar to Reese’s.
LoveRaw’s vegan treats are free from gluten and refined sugar but not free from fun, the brand states, “because the moreish taste will leave you wanting more.”
“Indulgent yet without the guilt and perfect with a hot drink or as a snack. Now to share, or not to share, that is the question,” LoveRaw writes online.
The butter cups contain no artificial ingredients and are free from palm oil, an ingredient that consumers are increasingly boycotting due to its impact on the environment. Last year, UK supermarket chain Iceland banned the sale of products containing palm oil and also launched an ad that exposed how palm oil production leads to deforestation and habitat loss for organutans.

LoveRaw isn’t the only company producing plant-based butter cups. Last year, Colorado-based nut butter brand Justin’s launched vegan dark chocolate almond butter cups and dark chocolate cashew butter cups.
Also in the United States, Trader Joe’s sells vegan butter cups made with fair trade dark chocolate and thick layers of sunflower seed butter. The treats, which are gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy-free, were created for those with allergies. “It was this gap on salty, nutty-flavored, chocolatey candy offerings for the peanut-averse that inspired our product developer to create Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Sunflower Seed Butter Cups, the newest addition to our candy set,” said the company.
Vegan Food at Boots
Boots has been introducing more plant-based food to cater to growing demand. In January, the pharmacy-led retailer launched a vegan BLT sandwich with egg-free mayonnaise and roasted carrot in place of bacon. During Veganuary, it offered half price on its vegan Bioglan Superfood Superberries and advertized its vegan Raw Millionaire Bites as an indulgent treat.
