The Los Angeles premiere of the vegan documentary, Dominion, is set to take place at the end of June.
Hosted by animal rights giant, PETA, Aussie Farms, and Farm Animal Rights Movement, the showing will take place at the Animal Rights National Conference in the city on June 30th.
Starring celebs such as Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, and newly announced, Sia, the film, which held its world premiere in March to a sold-out audience, exposes “the dark underbelly of modern animal agriculture through drones, [and] hidden & handheld cameras.”
More narrators are set to be announced before the film becomes widely available, the Dominion team announced last week. “We’re excited to announce the third narrator of Dominion, Australian singer-songwriter Sia,” the team stated on social media. “Within the next week, we hope to announce the final remaining narrators, after which DVDs will be hitting the presses (pre-order now at shop.dominionmovement.com). “Animals are inferior, humans are superior, and therefore that somehow grants us the right to have dominion over them, so I’m challenging that assumption, that perception, of animals being inferior and the idea that if someone is inferior then it gives us the right to control them, exploit them and use them for our own ends,” he explained.
The film addresses the food, clothing, entertainment, and beauty industries – basically, any industry which involves the exploitation of animals. “I think that these industries are only able to exist because people don’t know about them, they depend on secrecy,” he added. By breaking through the secrecy, Delforce hopes people will be encouraged to change their consumer habits. “I think good people will choose to no longer support it,” he stated.
Delforce will be speaking at the LA premiere, as well as hosting a Q&A session, and the founder of Aussie Farms will be making an appearance too. Other speakers and guests are expected to be announced over the coming weeks.
