This adorable plant-strong grandma, Anne Fraser, is youthful well beyond her years. However, her health hasn’t always been shining. After swapping her diet of animal products for a healthy vegan diet three weeks before aging gracefully into her 96th year, Fraser beat her cardiovascular condition.
Fraser used to suffer from an irregular heartbeat (medically known as AFib). To help ease the effects of this she was prescribed medicine that she claims made her very tired and her legs feel like lead – other medicines and treatments were deemed unsafe for someone with as many years under her belt. Using dietary intervention; adopting a vegan diet after being vegetarian since 2013, Fraser now has no irregular heartbeat.
Anne and her granddaughter watched the powerful Netflix documentary ‘What The Health’, and after realizing animal agriculture was not something that sat well in her heart (literally), both the women joined millions of others and went vegan. ‘I was desperate to get off it [medication] and a plant-based diet offered me hope,’ Says Fraser.
With her newfound energy, Fraser continues to keep active – she even leads fellow retirees in a weekly chair yoga class and meditation at their rest home. Anne stated: “I’ve always ended all my classes with the meta prayer, ‘May all beings be happy and free’ and after becoming vegan, and learning how inhumane and cruel our animal agriculture system is, I realised that I wasn’t doing my part. I was praying for all animals to be happy and free but not practicing it by still consuming animal products. Now when I say that prayer it has a deeper meaning to me.”
